After links with Leeds, a £ 7million man has been kicked out of the club squad with an exit likely
CSKA Moscow have failed to sign Adolfo Gaich for the new Russian league season amid reports linking Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United striker, as reported Sport24.
Despite joining CSKA on a £ 7million deal last summer, the Argentina international appears to be set to exit the VEB Arena already.
Gaich has started just two league games for the Moscow-based giants – without scoring a single goal – and spent the second half of last season on Serie A loan from Benevento.
With CSKA opting to leave Gaich out of their squad for the new season, it looks like they won’t stand against him if Leeds step up their interest in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Will Leeds United finally sign longtime target Adolfo Gaich?
Tuttomercatoweb reported last week that a 6-foot-3 center-forward who has been compared to both Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland has become a target for the Premier League side – not for the first time either.
Gaich’s agent Pablo Caro has confirmed that Leeds and Sheffield United have expressed interest in Gaich in the summer of 2020.
The chances of Sheffield United renewing their interest, however, appear slim after the Blades were relegated from the top flight last season.
You would think CSKA would prefer to recoup most if not all of their £ 7million investment, with such fees likely to exceed a championship outfit.
“Why is Gaich not registered for the season? I don’t understand what it is, ”said Fabian Bustos, another of his representatives, in a conversation with Sports.
Clearly, CKSA’s decision took Camp Gaich by surprise.
And if you’re wondering if the 22-year-old was left out due to his late return from the Tokyo Olympics, it’s worth pointing out that center-half Bruno Fuchs – who also took part in the tournament – possesses been included.
Despite his obvious talents, Gaich is not the most prolific of scorers. He has only found the net 11 times in 61 senior league games.
But Marcelo Bielsa obviously sees something special in Gaich and the mercurial tactician is an excellent judge of character.
