Call for witnesses after man with gun asks for phones in Great Chart and Singleton

A thug carrying a ‘barbecue fork’ weapon who demanded people’s phones in Ashford is wanted by police.

Detectives are linking two incidents which took place between 7pm and 7.30pm on Thursday May 5.

A man in his 20s was walking on a path near the Great Chart Playing Fields when he was approached

It has been reported that a man in his 20s was walking on a path near the Great Chart Playing Fields in Chart Road when he was approached by someone who asked for his phone.

When the victim refused, the suspect fled.

Shortly after, two women were jogging along Tithe Barn Lane in Singleton when one was approached by a man who asked for her phone and threatened to hurt her.

The victim handed over his mobile phone and the suspect then left in the direction of the underpass towards Singleton Road.

The suspect was described as a thin white male between the ages of 17 and 22 and about 5ft 9in tall.

He is reported to have been wearing a black tracksuit with a red stripe and a black balaclava.

He also allegedly carried a weapon in the shape of a barbecue fork.
