Charity events can be overwhelming. I’m all about giving back, but I’d like it to be fun.
United Way of Miami heard brewing, I mean, you. The hottest ticket in town is for a fundraiser as cool as an ice-cold beer.
Raise your glass to United Way’s Veritage fundraiser.
Lyn Farmer: “VeritageMiami is a great event that brings together several events. We celebrate wine, food and beer, all in service to the community.
The first Veritage shindig of the year takes place at Wynwood Walls. It’s something they’ve been doing for over a decade, craft beer tasting. Yum!
Lyn Farmer: “Craft beer tasting was an opportunity for us to go beyond the wine and food that was originally our mission and reach a younger audience.
The money raised goes to charity. The food and drinks are yours.
Lyn Farmer: “We have over a dozen participating breweries, and each of them serves several different beers. We have almost a dozen restaurants coming out.
One of the breweries that wouldn’t miss at night, Hialeah’s Unbranded Brewing Company.
Paul Alva: “We want to show what Hialeah has to offer when it comes to beer and food, and give back to the community.”
Two local favorites will be there.
Paul Alva: “Our guava wheat is unique because we use local Florida guava. Our misty IPA is our flagship IPA that contains two types of hops.
The Unbranded Smokehouse Texas Style Grill has a SoFlo twist.
Paul Alva: “Our smokehouse brings two dishes. We have a brisket slider, and we have a pulled pork quesadilla, and we use a Bar-BQ sauce that has our guava wheat beer.
Dogfish Head Brewery in Wynwood keeps it in its own backyard.
Paul Frederickson: “We’re attending the Veritage Craft Beer Tasting Event because it’s local to our neighborhood here around the corner and we’re happy to be part of a charity event.
They will pour can after can for a good cause.
Paul Frederickson: “We’re bringing our double Mas Hops IPA, as well as a beer called TwoPeelYa, which uses two types of limes as well as a beer called Dragon Fruit Salad, which uses dragon fruit, carambola, acai and banana. We also wanted to bring a unique beer that people may not have tried before.
Food is as creative as beer, but for Veritage, it’s top secret.
Paul Frederickson: “The menu will be a surprise, but there will be many tasty bites that resemble the menu we have in our bar, which are Latin and Caribbean-inspired dishes.
Tickets for the Veritage Craft Beer Tasting start at $100. There is only one thing to remember…
Lyn Farmer: “You must be 21 to take advantage of all the benefits of this event.”
The Veritage beer tasting is this Thursday.
