Sir Iain Duncan Smith has blasted the government for hitting businesses and employees with record peacetime tax jabs.

Corporation tax was raised to 19%, while national insurance rates were also increased.

The former Tory leader fumed that the Treasury was ‘determined to destroy’ the economy and even suggested it was the ‘enemy within’.

The words came at the launch of the Center for Brexit Policy paper written by MPs and experts, which attacks Remoaner officials who are said to be frustrating over Brexit.

He says: ‘It has been clear for some time that Brexit policy has not enjoyed such strong support from many officials.

“Furthermore, evidence has accumulated suggesting that public servants are not always competent to carry out their responsibilities and that social mores and value judgments interfere with the performance of work.”
