Granada want to sign Leeds United goalkeeper Kiko Casilla with contract termination on the cards

Spanish second-tier club Granada are on the hunt for Leeds United’s Kiko Casilla as they look for a new goalkeeper, according to Grade3.

Spanish media reported on July 13 that Luís Maximiano and Aarón Escandell have both left, with Granada looking to find two new goalkeepers.

It is understood Casilla, 35, is one of them with the Leeds goalkeeper in the final year of his contract at Elland Road and facing the likelihood of his contract being terminated.

Las Palmas goalkeeper Raúl Fernández is also on Granada’s radar with Grade3 saying, “In the past few hours, two names have come up. They are Raúl Fernández and Kiko Casilla.

Another outing on the cards

Leeds have said goodbye to a number of players so far this summer.

It was confirmed on Wednesday that young goalkeeper Elia Caprile has left to join Bari on a permanent basis as Raphinha moves ever closer to his dream move to Barcelona.

Kalvin Phillips has also left, as has Tyler Roberts with the Welshman joining QPR on a loan-buy basis.

On top of that, there have been a number of Under-23 departures while pariah Laurens De Bock also left with his contract expiring.

But of all the players we would be happy to see leave Leeds, Casilla would make us the happiest.

He’s been an absolute drain on the club and we can’t wait to see the £40,000-a-week back [Football Insider] fiasco.

Casilla’s performance on the pitch was, overall, dismal while he was also banned for racially abusing Jonathan Leko, spoiling our Championship winning season.

It’s embarrassing that he wasn’t immediately fired after that, in all honesty.

Granada are welcome to him.

The Chinese-owned Spanish club have just been relegated from La Liga, so a move to the Spanish second tier probably suits them better after a mixed loan spell at Elche in the top flight last season.

In other Leeds United news, a ‘ridiculous’ offer could lead to the Whites selling the Englishman.
