HEB to feed firefighters and first responders on 9/11

On Sunday, HEB Mobile Kitchens will serve a barbecue to area firefighters at a drive-in event at the Alamodome.

SAN ANTONIO – HEB will be honoring local police, firefighters and EMS first responders in a series of events culminating in the provision of a free barbecue to firefighters on Sunday, September 11.

On Sunday, HEB Mobile Kitchens will serve a barbecue to area firefighters at a drive-in event at the Alamodome.

SAFD vehicles will pass by to pick up the barbecue for those on duty. At the event, HEB will also present a check and surprise a local nonprofit with a cash donation.

“First responders are on the front line, 24 hours a day, protecting and protecting us,” said Patricia Muzquiz Cantor, director of convention and sports facilities for the city of San Antonio. “It is an honor for the Alamodome to join our featured partner, HEB, in hosting this event.”

The company says that in the week leading up to Sunday, HEB partners (employees) volunteered to prepare meals and carry out maintenance projects around the stations like cleaning and landscaping.

San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood expressed his gratitude for the partnership with HEB.

“Whether it is a major incident or a natural disaster, HEB always answers the call and has become a valuable partner for the SAFD. We thank our friends at HEB for honoring our service in such a special way,” said SAFD Fire Chief Charles Hood.
