Hélène Boudreau talks about OnlyFans banning sexual content
The popular content-sharing platform OnlyFans recently revealed that it will soon be ban sexually explicit content to comply with banking partners and payment providers. We asked one of OnlyFans’ most famous Quebecers, Hélène Boudreau, what this news means for content creators like her.
OnlyFans announces changes
“As of October 1, 2021, OnlyFans will ban the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct,” OnlyFans said in an email shared with MTL Blog. “To ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform and continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we need to evolve our content guidelines.”
Naked content will still be allowed, he said, as long as it complies with the company’s acceptable use policy.
While cooking, fitness, personal care and more exist on OnlyFans, the platform is best known for its sexual content, with fans paying a monthly fee to sex workers to access their content.
OnlyFans has yet to elaborate on what “sexually explicit conduct” entails, so it’s not entirely clear what these changes mean for content creators. The emailed statement said the company will share more details in the coming days.
Meanwhile, sex workers like Boudreau are gearing up for the sequel.
What do you think of the news that OnlyFans will no longer allow “sexually explicit” content?
“When I heard the news I was a little confused and worried. But I knew I would find an alternative if OnlyFans closed for good or if we couldn’t post explicit images. saved a lot of money and have several other sources of income, such as the MYM platform or on webcam with Jerkmate, ”Boudreau said.
“[But] Of course, OnlyFans is my main source of income so it’s a very stressful situation. “
What impact will this change have on your career?
Boudreau said that if OnlyFans was no longer an option, she would consider starting her own website where people could pay to access the videos and photos she posted using a credit card and the PayPal system.
“Otherwise, Brazzers contacted me yesterday and [asked if] I might have thought of going for “traditional” porn. But I have to admit that with OnlyFans I’m fine like this, ”she said.
What are your plans now? Do you think you are going to switch to another platform?
For now, Boudreau said she was not considering changing platforms “because they [haven’t confirmed] clearly they will remove nudity and porn videos / photos. ”
Whatever happens next, Boudreau said she would be ready.
“I am a woman who loves challenges and can cope with any change in circumstances that life brings! I think my bachelor’s degree prepared me very well for challenges. I don’t think that after four years of university there is something that scares me more than school, ”she said.
