Kaveh Solhekol: Helder Costa set to leave Leeds United amid transfer development

Helder Costa is set to bid farewell to Leeds United this summer amid speculation linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia, according to Kaveh Solhekol.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Wednesday (August 3, 5:22 PM CET), Solhekol said Al-Ittihad are interested in signing the 28-year-old Angola winger.

Costa has not been involved in Jesse Marsch’s pre-season friendlies and he is unlikely to be seen again in a Leeds shirt.

“Helder Costa is expected to leave Elland Road this summer. Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia have expressed interest,” Solhekol said live on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Wednesday.

Good luck

We have nothing against Costa.

He did his best while he was with us even though he was clearly not up to it.

It’s a huge problem that Victor Orta decided to spend so much money on him, although the loan-to-buy deal with Wolves is still meant to shoot the Whites in the foot.

Leeds massively overpaid for the former Wolves winger, paying around £15million for the permanent contract following his average loan.

In total, he played 71 times for Leeds, scoring eight goals and providing 11 assists.

It’s not enough – especially when he reportedly warned £48,000-a-week on his contract at Elland Road [Super Deportes].

Valencia didn’t want him after a sub-par loan spell in Spain last season, so a move to the Middle East makes sense.

Orta and Marcelo Bielsa made a big mistake signing Costa when they should have used the money to strengthen other parts of the squad and we are forced to take a massive loss on him.

But we wish Costa the best, he has been a consummate professional at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the club want to sign this ‘phenomenal’ former Premier League striker who is potentially keen on a move.
