Leeds are plotting another move for the Huddersfield star
Leeds United are ready to relaunch their pursuit of Huddersfield Town star Lewis O’Brien, according to reports.
For those unaware, highly rated midfielder O’Brien was heavily tipped for a switch from Elland Road throughout last summer’s transfer window.
That came with Marcelo Biels understood as a keen admirer of the 23-year-old’s talents, and Leeds having long been sorely lacking in depth in the middle of the park.
In the end, a deal evidently could not be struck as the powers that be in Huddersfield were urged not to back down amid a concerted push from their Yorkshire rivals.
According to a report by The Sun, however, the latest signals from Elland Road indicate that Leeds are preparing a renewed offer for O’Brien.
New Whites boss Jesse Marsch has also been impressed with the Englishman’s form at the Kirklees stadium, with a £10million bid, in turn, reportedly in the pipeline.
A potential problem for Leeds, however, comes in the form of continued pressure from Huddersfield for a return to the Premier League.
The Terriers are currently in action with Nottingham Forest, knowing that a victory would guarantee them a place in the English top flight for the 2022/23 campaign.
And, if Carlos Corberan’s troops emerge triumphant, then O’Brien is in line for a new contract, with a considerably higher release clause.
