Leeds: Hay drops Bamford update
Leeds United have received a huge injury blow over Patrick Bamford.
What’s the latest?
In a recent article on TwitterPhil Hay of The Athletic has revealed that the centre-forward, who was took of after just 23 minutes of Los Blancos’ 3-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out, he looks set to be ruled out for around six weeks – something that ends the England international’s season.
Regarding Bamford’s latest move, the reporter said: “The season may well be over for him.”
Do you think Leeds are safe this season?
Marsch will be emptied
Considering the fact that Bamford have already missed nine Premier League games due to a ankle injury and 11 league games following a pulled hamstrings this season, the news that the 28-year-old now looks set for at least another six weeks on the sidelines has certainly left Jesse Marsch gutted.
Last season’s extended absence 17 goals the striker has no doubt contributed to the rather grim situation Leeds currently find themselves in – sitting just seven points above the relegation zone, with 18th-placed Watford and 19th-placed Burnley having games in progress against the Whites.
Indeed, with the £18 million hitman managing just nine Premier League appearances so far this season, in which he has scored two goalsit is quite clear why Leeds pocketed 13 times less than after the same number of games last season.
As such, the fact that Marsch’s team now appears to be doing without the services of the £74,000 per week advancing to their final eight games of the current campaign is sure to be a blow to the United States manager as, despite a relatively healthy cushion between Leeds and the drop zone, the 48-year-old will be well aware that his side are not not yet off the hook.
