Leeds transfer news: Marcelo Bielsa faces big problem over £8m target
Leeds United target Jason Knight ‘unwilling to leave’ Derby County in January transfer window amid growing interest in midfielder’s services, reporter claims DeanJones.
The 20-year-old has been linked with several Premier League sides in recent weeks as the Rams’ dire financial situation continues to drag on.
What’s the latest on Knight?
According to a report by soccer world league in December, Knight was also closely watched by Everton, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Burnley and Newcastle United alongside Leeds.
And now, The temperature claim Marcelo Bielsa’s charges have registered an interest in the Republic of Ireland international, who could be available for £8m this winter.
Los Blancos face fierce competition for the signing of Knight, though, with Burnley and Newcastle also considering making offers for the in-demand youngster.
Although Knight established himself as an essential member of Wayne Rooney’s first team, making 20 appearances in all competitions this season, the former England legend could be forced to sell his prized asset.
PARTICIPATE IN THE GIFT
Derby must provide proof of funding for the rest of the season if they want to avoid further point cuts, and sanctioning the exit of one of their most talented stars could do just that.
What did Jones say about Knight?
Although the Midlands side are in the Championship relegation zone after a huge 21 point deduction for breaking the financial rules, their form was exceptional.

And Jones revealed Knight was in no rush to leave Pride Park and enjoyed his time working under Rooney.
He told GiveMeSport: “Knight doesn’t really want to leave Derby at the moment. So even though it’s a good decision for him, while Rooney is here, I think he really appreciates it.
Do Leeds need Knight?
Leeds desperately need midfield reinforcements this month after talisman Kalvin Phillips was ruled out of action until March with a hamstring injury.
It seems like Adam Forshaw would join Phillips on the treatment table after coming off in the first half against West Ham, but he has provided a positive update since.
Nevertheless, Bielsa remains out of options in the engine room and several potential targets have been linked with a move to Elland Road.
Knight might be the most notable candidate, however, given his relatively low price tag, international experience and potential, meaning Bielsa must surely consider a formal offer carefully.
