Leeds United and Liverpool want to sign Chelsea target Cole Brannigan

Leeds United are said to be in a four-way battle which includes Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City to sign Northern Irish teenager Cole Brannigan.

According to Sun, Los Blancos are keen to secure the services of the Under-16 international who is currently plying his trade for Linfield.

It is understood the teenager could be attracted to a move to Stamford Bridge given he has done wonders in turning youngsters into quality professional players.

Already faced Leeds juniors

The teenager played on the right and on the face of it gave Leeds youngsters a hard time with his ability to carry the ball from defense to attack.

He was also a threat from set pieces and that would certainly have impressed anyone watching this game.

It will be tough to beat three billionaire-owned clubs in Brannigan’s services, but Leeds can offer the player the quickest route to senior football.

They can certainly show him examples of the number of players who broke into the first team last season due to injuries and a lack of depth in the squad.

If he impresses for the Under-18s and possibly the Under-23s, chances are he’ll be in contention for promotion and training with the seniors.

For now, there is nothing more than interest and it remains to be seen if an approach is made for the player.
