Leeds United boss comments on Aston Villa move as Liverpool move falls

Aston Villa has a busy month before the January transfer window opens.

In December, Villa will play seven times, starting with a visit to Manchester City on Wednesday (8:15 p.m.).

He will inform Villa boss Steven Gerrard’s plans for market recovery.

Villa have won their two games under Gerrard so far and moved away from the relegation zone and now look at the Premier League standings with just four points separating them from Wolverhampton Wanderers in sixth place.

If they manage to prepare by the New Year, they will be able to attract top talent in January to give their season a final boost and try to end it on a high.

Here is the latest news regarding the Villa transfer …

Bielsa comments on Phillips’ interest

Marcelo Bielsa has opened up about Kalvin Phillips and the England star’s decision to stay at Leeds United.

Phillips was the subject of intense transfer speculation when Villa was promoted from the Championship two years ago.

Villa failed in his attempts to sign the 25-year-old and he has since explained how close he is to a move to Villa Park.

“He’s an idol for Leeds fans,” Bielsa said.

“We all have an obligation to ensure the feeling that unites a fan with a team.

“What he did was sincere, not conditioned.

“He chose to stay when he could have gone to the league.”

Liverpool fans talk about Gomez’s decision

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool are invited to help Anfield idol Steven Gerrard in the transfer window when it reopens in January.

Joe Gomez, who has struggled for playing time this season, is set to make a loan at Villa.

The defender has only played 13 minutes of Premier League football this season and is currently out with a calf injury.

Liverpool fans have had their say in the Mirror reporting and some believe it would be ideal for any holiday.

“Big decision for both as it is,” one said on social media.

“It’s not the worst idea, just install an instant recall clause in the loan agreement and then, if necessary, he will be ready to play,” added another.

A third Liverpool fan said: “Good Stevie G! He has no playing time so yes. It’s not a bad thing to play with a good manager who is also a legend.”

“It makes sense,” said another. “I would allow him to go. We have Nat Phillips to come in.”

“Phillips is happy to sit on the bench and Gomez is not,” added a fifth Reds fan.

Two Rangers stars approached for Villa

Former Rangers forward Kenny Miller believes Joel Aribo or Ryan Kent are the two Ibrox stars most likely to follow Gerrard to Villa.

Gerrard has been linked with a handful of players since moving to Villa earlier this month.

“If you were to ask me right away who Gerrard could come back to try to sign, it would be Aribo or Kent,” Miller told the Daily check-in.

“I know he really likes both players. They spent a lot of money on Kent and maybe they would pay a lot for one or the other.

“It depends on what he is looking for in Villa and who he occupies in these positions.”
