Leeds United defender Jamie Shackleton could leave if Ola Aina arrives

Leeds United defender Jamie Shackleton could be close to an exit if the club seriously seek the services of another right-back.

According to Tuttosport, Ola Aina has been transferred to Turin and Los Blancos are said to be watching him very closely.

The 25-year-old is a right-back by trade and is a full-fledged Nigerian international, having made his debut for them in 2017.

Apart from that, he also gained Premier League experience when he spent a season on loan at Fulham.

Chelsea are known to be one of the best talent production academies in Europe and Aina came from their famous system.

He joined the club in 2007 at the age of 11 and stayed with them until 2019 – making three senior appearances.

If Leeds were to pursue their services seriously this month, Shackleton might want to leave the club.

While he prefers to play in midfield, Marcelo Bielsa has used him as a right-back due to the number of injuries in the squad.

Shackleton had no qualms as he was previously unhappy with the lack of playing time, but he has received it this season.

If Aina were to enter, he would certainly be ahead of the 22-year-old who was called “excellent” by Phil Hay.

The Leeds midfielder has already spoken of having another look at his client’s situation in January and the links to another right-back certainly don’t make a very good read for Elland Road’s future by Shackleton.

In other Leeds United news, football finance expert filed claim over Marcelo Bielsa’s dismissal claim amid Andrea Radrizzani’s ties to the NFL San Francisco 49ers franchise.
