Leeds United defender reportedly keen to strive to be Virgil van Dijk 2.0
Leeds United target Jack Hendry said The daily record that he plans to be as Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk.
90min reported this week that Leeds were interested in signing Celtic defender Hendry in the summer transfer window.
Ostend has reportedly decided to sign the Scotland international center-back on a permanent contract after a loan spell.
The Belgian club are now said to be ready to sell the 26-year-old for a big profit.
Van Dijk is one of the best center-backs in the world and is a former Celtic player.
Hendry said The daily record: “He’s someone I’ve watched over the years. I loved watching it when I was in Scotland. He has all the attributes of a modern center-half.
“You have to admire these kinds of players and strive to be among them. You have to analyze them to see what you can do to improve yourself and Virgil is definitely a guy that I have studied.
Hendry performed well during his loan to Belgium and has improved as a player since joining Celtic.
The 26-year-old is 6-foot-4, is good with the ball, reads the game well and issues timely challenges.
Okay, the defender couldn’t have had a massive impact at Celtic, but that doesn’t mean he won’t cut him at Leeds.
Liam Cooper, Stuart Dallas and Luke Ayling are just a few of the Leeds squad who were playing lower league football in England not so long ago.
Now all three are great Premier League players.
