Leeds United DoF Victor Orta wanted by Newcastle

Leeds United director of football Victor Orta is one of many candidates on Newcastle’s list, according to a report by The sun.

After the Saudi-backed takeover in October, ownership of the Magpies changed hands and they are now the richest club in the Premier League.

They have hired a new manager and plan to sign in January, but want to add a soccer director and are linked with a move for Orta.

Must stay

Leeds fortunes have changed over the past four years and many fans attribute this to Marcelo Bielsa and Andrea Radrizzani.

While the duo have undoubtedly been exceptionally successful, special credit must be given to Orta as well.

The Spaniard has been the driving force in terms of the entry and exit of the club’s players and has also ensured that people like Bielsa are contractually satisfied.

Orta took over the reins of Elland Road in 2017, before passing through Seville and Middlesbrough.

He was also wanted by Juventus and Fiorentina in the past [Yorkshire Evening Post]so he’s clearly good at his craft and has done wonders for Leeds.

Recently he opened up about his relationship with Bielsa and how easy it is to work with the Argentinian.

“It’s really easy to work with Marcelo Bielsa. I know you’re expecting the other headline about the relationship and the rumors, but that’s absolutely not true, ”Orta told StatsBomb 2021 conference held at Stamford Bridge.

It is imperative that Los Blancos keep him as Bielsa could leave at the end of the season and Orta’s exit could set the club back as well.
