Leeds United Mills icon quotes Owen in ‘massive’ teenage verdict

Danny Mills has warned Leeds United not to throw Archie Gray into the first team until he’s ready.

Addressed exclusively to Football initiate, the former Whites and England defender insisted it was a “massive” U-23 advance to Leeds first team.

The 15-year-old traveled with the senior squad for their 2-1 loss to Tottenham last weekend but failed to reach the bench.

The AthleticPhil Hay reported (November 22) that his performance in first team training had made Thorp Arch ‘tongue stir’.

“They just have to be careful not to throw it out too early”, Agbonlahor said Football initiate correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s still in the developmental stage of growing and learning. It is an under 16.

“When you look at the best, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney. When Rooney broke through, he was a physical specimen of a man.

“The experience will do him good. Being in and around it, seeing what it looks like. He just needs to make sure he doesn’t get carried away with himself.

“Leeds shouldn’t be tempted to throw him away too quickly. This, at times, can do more harm than good.

“He has played a limited amount of Under-23 football and has competed in the Papa John’s Trophy, but he is well outside the first team levels.”

Gray has played three times for the Leeds Under-23s in Premier League 2 this term.

He also played and recorded an assist in the 4-1 loss to Tranmere Rovers at the Papa John’s Trophy in September.
