Orta makes ‘Big Six’ transfer admission
If nothing else, Manchester City’s pursuit of Kalvin Phillips shows their preference for proven Premier League players over risky signings from further afield. They did the same when they broke their transfer record to bring Jack Grealish to the club from Aston Villa last year.
Talk to Mark in Spain, Victor Orta has given his thoughts on why Man City and their top-ranked rivals choose to spend their money domestically. He said: “At the moment I feel like the big guys in England are focusing more on the home market players.

“I feel like some costly and failed signings from outside England have caused a little mental trauma and all the big players are re-thinking their processes.”
Minto worried about Leeds fan after Phillips deal
Leeds fans will be left in disgust when they see Man City officially announce Phillips’ arrival when he is already resigned to his potential departure this summer. This feeling – although not as extreme – will be similar if Raphinha is sold before the end of the transfer window.
Former West Ham and Chelsea defender Scott Minto thinks there is cause for concern at Elland Road, especially if the Brazilian follows Phillips out the door. He told talkSPORT: “They pretty much stayed up, Leeds. But if you’re going to let Kalvin Phillips go you need to get a lot of money for him and if you let Raphinha go, which we obviously don’t know if that’s going to happen, £100m between the two if they let him go. ‘get, at first glance, is good money.
“The return of Patrick Bamford will be key, but is there a guarantee that he will be as good as he was in the first season? There is no guarantee, but even if you think than he would be, Leeds are still massively depleted.
“What you do next with that money is absolutely crucial. Right now, if I was a Leeds fan, I would be worried.

Winterburn weighs in on Arsenal’s interest in Raphinha
Arsenal continue to be one of the teams most linked with a move for Raphinha this summer. They are said to have already submitted a bid for the 25-year-old but were immediately rebuffed because their offer was well below Leeds’ valuation.
Nigel Winterburn has been impressed with the Los Blancos star but isn’t sure if he’s the player his former team should favor this summer. He said: “It will be interesting to see if this transfer goes through or not. It’s a lot of money.
“Arsenal have players in that position. Yes, we can all agree that we need to strengthen and add quite a few players this summer. Whether we will add enough players we will have to see.
“But Raphinha is a player I like, he’s exciting, he’s good on the ball, he’s quick. But we have to see where he would fit into the table in terms of other players we’re looking at and if that money would be better spent elsewhere before going on it.
