Leeds United set to reap rewards as Mencucci becomes Leece manager

We are delighted to welcome a football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as an exclusive columnist. Each week he will give his views on the main talking points at Leeds United...

Sandro Mencucci taking on a role in Serie A, Leece will come at a cost, but Leeds United will also benefit from him splitting his time.

That’s according to Dr. Dan Plumley who says sharing resources will benefit both teams and that could be a good thing.

Yorkshire Evening Post reported earlier this month [1 June] that he completed a takeover of the Serie A team.

Mencucci will still continue at Elland Road despite a high-powered position at the Italian club.

Discussing the impact of this and whether or not it would affect the way Leeds operates, the Sheffield Hallam University expert told MOT Leeds News exclusively:

“Of course, you should try to allocate your time accordingly. Especially, if you have important roles in both organizations, which is the case with him, it could happen.

“We also need to look at it from a benefits perspective and the benefits are the sharing of resources, information, knowledge, data, which is very important at this level.

“There are major benefits to be gained from someone in such a high position at two different clubs in two different leagues, even if you have to split your time.

Mencucci joined Leeds in 2021 to take up a managerial role at the club after his spell at Fiorentina.

He is believed to be on good terms with owner Andrea Radrizzani.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has shared whether a ‘sensational’ defensive midfielder has agreed to terms on a switch from Elland Road and become the club’s fourth summer signing.
