Leeds United striker Raphinha makes text admission to Roberto Firmino amid Liverpool transfer rumors
Leeds United striker Raphinha has opened up to speculation linking him to a move to Liverpool.
Rumors of recent months have credited the Reds with an interest in the Brazilian, with Manchester United also being credited as a potential destination.
Raphinha signed for Leeds last summer from French club Rennes on a £ 18million deal, and he still has four years left to fulfill his contract.
Despite speculation, Raphina insists he’s happy at Elland Road and isn’t thinking about signing for Liverpool.
“Dude, I grew up watching these teams on TV. I saw Rooney, Van Nistelrooy, Cristiano Ronaldo, but I also saw Gerrard, as well as others like Henry, Deco, Lampard.
“There are so many players of such quality that it’s hard to say if I have reflected any of them.
“I think I reflected the championship, you know? I loved watching and dreamed of playing here.
“And today I make people happy with my football. I’m not just talking about the other clubs, but also Leeds, who bet on me.
“They are all very happy, including the fans who seem to have great affection for me.
“I have a contract for another four years and I don’t even think about leaving here for exactly this reason: I am happy and I make others happy.”
Raphinha then revealed that the Liverpool forward and his Brazilian compatriot Roberto Firmino was the first person to message him when he signed for Leeds last summer.
The winger went on to say that he is also friends with Alisson Becker and Fabinho, as well as three Manchester United players,
“It’s funny that I have friends at both clubs. Bruno Fernandes played with me for a year which seemed much more at Sporting (Lisbon). He almost became an older brother, ”added Raphinha.
“We talk everyday, but not football, just our antics. Even from a distance it helps me a lot.

“At United, there is Alex Telles. I didn’t even know how many times against him, a tough goalscorer, but always with respect. There is Fred, who is also from the south.
“But in Liverpool there is also Alisson who comes from the South, so everything remains the same. There is always Fabinho, who comes from the same place as Firmino and me.
“In fact, did you know Firmino was the first guy to text me when I came here?” He’s a great friend.
