Liverpool take Leeds lead in Arsenal transfer duel as manager gives in

Liverpool have taken a shock lead in the race to sign a Dutch winger linked to Arsenal and Leeds, and his manager’s comments suggest a January deal is viable.

In recent months, the future destination of Dutch flyer Noa Lang has turned the rumor mill. The 22-year-old moved to Club Brugge on a permanent contract this summer after being on loan from Ajax last year.

Lang’s performances were of such a standard that he was recently called up to Louis Van Gaal’s Dutch team. He won his first and second caps in their World Cup qualifying victories over Latvia and Gibraltar last week.

Lang had been heavily linked with Leeds in the Summer Window ahead of Daniel James’ arrival. He would have stayed on their radar and could eventually take over from Raphinha at Elland Road if the vultures called.

Arsenal were then deemed ‘eager’ to land the wide striker and were planning a raid in January.

Corn by sports witness (citing the Italian point of sale Calciomercato), Liverpool are in line.

They say the Reds are “number one” in an article focusing on AC Milan’s interest in Lang. Rossoneri chiefs are said to have met with Lang’s representatives during the international break to assess the finances of a possible swoop.

According to the report, a figure of around 25 million euros would be enough for a deal to be sanctioned in January.

Quotes from Club Brugge manager Philippe Clément also shed additional light on the situation.

Going through Sports witness, Clément admitted that his team “will not be able to prevent” Lang from leaving in January if their demands are met.

“I’m realistic when it comes to these things,” Clement said.

“If an offer that cannot be refused arrives for him, we won’t be able to stop him in January.

“I would prefer him to finish the season, win a title and be important, but we’ll see what happens in January.”

Liverpool aim Belgian speedster to allay Leeds Raphinha fears

During this time, Liverpool have no plans at this point to try to sign Raphinha from Leeds next summer – with Jurgen Klopp reportedly setting their sights on an alternative.

Raphinha is the man of the moment after scoring two and helping in another for Brazil as they came down 4-1 winners over Uruguay. This form has caused talk of more than one move to Liverpool, with his Deco agent confirming their interest.

Fabinho even spoke of a move, but according to Daily Express, Jeremy Doku is Klopp’s # 1 target.

The Rennes winger has reached the heights of Ligue 1 and sometimes seemed unplayable during Euro 2020. And having followed him for several years, he is the man Klopp wants to bring to Anfield.

Any deal will cost around £ 50million – but that looks cheap compared to Leeds’ minimum value of £ 70-80million at Raphinha.
