Josh Warrington is on a mission to redeem himself tonight to avenge his loss to Mauricio Lara in Leeds, England. The map begins at 2 p.m. ET live on DAZN from Headingley Rugby Stadium.
Boxing 247 will be giving live updates below with the action on the Lara – Warrington 2 map below.
Women’s lightweight champion Katie Taylor defends against Jennifer Han in the co-featured bout on the card. On top of that, undefeated welterweight contender Conor Benn takes on Adrian Granados in a 12-round bout that promises to be action-packed.
Lara (23-2, 16 KOs) comes from his home in Mexico to defeat former IBF featherweight champion Warrington (30-1, 7 KOs) for the second time after suffering his first career loss thanks to a knockout at ninth round earlier this year on February 13 at Wembley Arena in London, England.
It could be the end of the game for Warrington if he loses, as that would be a signal that he is no longer good enough to shuffle him at the top.
How to watch Lara vs. Warrington 2?
Former 126 lb IBF Champion Warrington, 30, and # 4 IBF, # 4 WBC Lara will fight tonight, September 4th live on DAZN at Headingley Stadium in Leeds, England.
Sadly, we don’t know how good Lara is because before fighting Warrington last February, he had never fought someone world class. Lara lost to mediocre second-row fighters Eliot Chavez in 2018 [1st round knockout] and Julio Garabino in 2015 [4 round split decision].
Matchroom is hoping Warrington can win this fight, and they will likely stick him with IBF featherweight champion Kid Galahad in a rematch. If Josh loses to Lara again, Matchroom will have to figure out what to do with him
Warrington is too popular at Leeds for Eddie Hearn to part ways with his promotion company, but obviously his days fighting for the world titles could be over.
“We call it ‘repeat or redeem’, and it’s the same scenario,” said ring announcer David Diamante. BMEntertainment on the Mauricio Lara rematch against Josh Warrington 2 tonight in Leeds.
“You have to give Josh Warrington a ton of credit for coming back and taking this fight. It’s the same sort of thing, and Eddie [Hearn] just alluded to. It’s the same sort of thing as when Joshua lost to Andy Ruiz Jr.
“This week at Wembley, Warrington was sort of on top of the world and he was doing really, really well. Lara was the underdog, coming from Mexico. The people who know know that when you fight at altitude, these fighters , their lungs are different.
