Piers Morgan breaks silence on attainable GMB return
Piers Morgan has mentioned he is not going to be returning to Good Morning Britain, after petitions calling for his reinstatement reached a mixed complete of almost 200,000 signatures.
The TV presenter, 55, thanked those that had supported him following his on-air feedback in regards to the Duchess of Sussex and his entrance web page interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Morgan withdrew after saying he did not consider the Duchess’s remarks through the interview, when she opened up about her sanity and suicidal ideas.
Her feedback have been criticized by psychological well being charity Thoughts and prompted 41,000 complaints from the broadcasting watchdog Ofcom, in addition to a proper grievance to ITV from Meghan.
Three petitions on Change.org calling for Morgan to return to GMB have since garnered a mixed complete of greater than 196,000 signatures.
Responding to the numbers, Morgan wrote on Twitter: “I will not be again, however thanks to everybody who signed these petitions. Usually folks begin petitions to get me fired or kicked out, so it is a nice shock. ”
Earlier Thursday, Good Morning Britain climate presenter Alex Beresford mentioned he did not need Morgan to go away the present after he had a heated on-air dialogue about Meghan that led Morgan to go away the set.
On Twitter, Beresford mentioned: “I did not need him to cease, however I needed him to hear.”
Beresford, 40, mentioned difficult Morgan’s views was “not a scandal”.
Throughout Thursday’s present, host Kate Garraway described Morgan as “passionate” and “real.”
Morgan tweeted earlier that he scored a victory over BBC Breakfast on his final day on GMB.
“I had one objective in becoming a member of GMB: to beat BBC Breakfast within the odds,” he wrote.
“On my final day we did it. It was because of the laborious work and dedication of the entire group.
“They do not all agree with me, some do not even like me, however we have been a group… and we gained. Thanks guys. I am going to miss you.”
