Thousands of people witness the return of fireworks by the lake
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Thousands of people turned out for the return of the Milwaukee Lakeside Fireworks. People waited all day on the 3rd for the event, which hasn’t happened in two years due to COVID-19.
The likes of Steven Gaskell said that after seeing smaller fireworks in recent years, he wanted his children to have the full experience this year as fireworks flew through the air from the barge on Lake Michigan.
He said it was a special moment he won’t soon forget.
“[The] the kids are big enough, they can finally handle the booms of the fireworks, so we thought it was time to give them a real show,” Gaskell said.
Members of the Moore family said they always show up early to get the same lakeside spot.
They said it was great to be back enjoying the BBQ and family time, they were also grateful for the weather.
“We love it, we missed it, we’re very lucky it didn’t plan to rain this year, because we know tomorrow it’s supposed to rain, it means a lot to us as a family,” says Sheena Moore.
