Tuchel provides injury update on three Chelsea stars for Leeds clash

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel offers updates on squad news ahead of Leeds United on Sunday

Speaking at the press conference (h/t Football.London) ahead of this weekend’s game against Leeds United, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel gave an update on N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Armando Broja ahead of his side heading to Elland Road for their next game championship on Sunday afternoon.

This is not good news for midfielder N’Golo Kante, who is expected to be out for weeks instead of days. Tuchel described it as ‘not good news’ and expressed his disappointment as the player was in top form in the first two games of this season and played very well. France’s World Cup winner will be missed by the squad for the games he has to miss.

“We are talking about weeks, which is not good news. We are disappointed and sad because N’Golo was in great shape.

The Chelsea manager also added that striker Armando Broja and midfielder Mateo Kovacic will miss Sunday’s game, although the German did not give the extent of injuries to either player.

Kante suffered a hamstring injury in the Blues’ previous game against Tottenham Hotspur as they trailed 2-1. The 31-year-old was having a great game so far. The team felt their absence in the middle to close out the game when the opposition finally equalized with the last significant action.

On the other hand, Kovacic is yet to start a league game this season. He was on the bench in the opener against Everton but missed the Spurs game with a knee injury, which he is going to need more treatment.

Treatment and recovery may keep him out of action for the foreseeable future. Chelsea have been good when the Croatian international starts and is playing well.

Thomas Tuchel will once again host two Chelsea stars ahead of the PL clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Mateo Kovacic will be another big miss for the Blues in the upcoming games.

Young striker Broja has come off the bench in both games so far but is now injured. It must be devastating for a player who is still trying to impress the manager with his performances in hopes that he will one day get a starting spot. Getting hurt at the wrong time isn’t going to help the cause.

More Chelsea news:

Injuries are part of the game and players cannot be responsible for them. Let’s hope all three are back as soon as possible.

For Tuchel, the challenge is to find a midfield combination without two key players in that department. Conor Gallagher must be in contention to get his first of this season.
