Tyler Roberts, on loan from Leeds United, is already out through injury

Tyler Roberts left Leeds United to join Queens Park Rangers on loan to try to regain his form but he has already suffered a setback.

R manager Michael Beale revealed in his pre-match press conference that the 24-year-old will miss his first game of the league season at Blackburn Rovers after only joining the club on July 6.

He is the only QPR player not to train after also missing much of the 2021-22 Premier League campaign at Elland Road with a thigh problem.

“As of today, everyone but Tyler Roberts has been training,” Beale told Sport West London. “He has a little problem that I don’t want to risk.

“He started the week training with us, but I didn’t think he looked good. It’s the right call for us to slow down and make sure he’s ready.

“We thought he would be fine and although he hasn’t had any setbacks or new injuries, we just think he needs a bit more fitness so he’s been training away from home. group in isolation.

When Jesse Marsch really needed the Welshman to play week after week at a very high level, he left and got kicked out of his first game at his new club.

The move may have been his last chance to impress the people of Elland Road and earn an extended stay in Yorkshire, but if this is how the season starts it could be complicated for Roberts.

The boss will be aware of the issues and should check in regularly with him and fellow Championship players Jamie Shackleton and Charlie Cresswellm both at Millwall, but he has bigger fish to fry at the moment.

He faces the prospect of starting the new Premier League season without a recognized left-back at the club and he needs him and his team to focus on getting a player through the door before Wolves show up at the club. LS11 on August 6.

In other Leeds United news, Los Blancos are now expected to be the favorites to sign this striker with another Premier League side dropping out of the race.
