WATCH: A few showers to start but it gets dry on Saturday
SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV)
Friday’s storm system is slow and lurks just off the northeast coast from Saturday to Sunday, which has implications for our weather for the start of the holiday weekend.
There is still a lot of humidity in the lower atmosphere due to the constant rain on Friday so we are concerned that the clouds will remain for much of Saturday. There will also be some light rain or drizzle from southern Syracuse on Saturday morning.
There may be breaks allowing for some sun later in the afternoon and particularly north of Syracuse further from the low along the coast. Temperatures only manage to reach around 60 (which is better than Friday but still cool).
Low pressure begins to move north parallel to the New England coast on Sunday. Looks like the low is further west as it moves north. This will cause showers in and around CNY during the afternoon and evening. Temperatures remain cool with more clouds than sun.
The best day of the holiday weekend when it comes to weather is always Memorial Day itself.
The low pressure is finally moving away from the coast and we will have a better chance of drying out the lower atmosphere, resulting in more sunshine and warmer, more seasonal temperatures. We can start with clouds, but we see some sun cutouts. Monday is your best day outdoors, whether you’re going to services or planning a barbecue.
If you are planning to go to the beach, keep in mind that the air temperature is only in the 60s to 70s and the water temperature is in the 50s. We will have to wait at least. the middle of the week to feel more summery again.
